Updates To Key Positions In U.S. Administration

There have been several recent announcements on key positions to be filled in the Trump administration, including:

  • The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee approved Andrew Wheeler to be administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which he currently leads on an acting basis. Wheeler’s nomination will now be considered by the full Senate.
  • The U.S. Senate has confirmed Alexandra Dunn as the head of the EPA’s Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP). The assistant administrator role puts her at the top of the OCSPP, which is the office that implements Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
  • A Senate panel voted to advance attorney general nominee William Barr, setting up a confirmation vote the week of Feb. 11.
  • The U.S. Senate confirmed James Carroll as director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), making him the principal drug policy advisor to the president amidst the national opioid epidemic. He previously served as acting director of the ONDCP.
